About Travel Smart Peru

What this site is, who it is for, and how we approach travel content.

What is Travel Smart Peru?

Travel Smart Peru publishes practical Peru itineraries, route guides, where-to-stay advice, and first-time visitor planning resources. The site is built around a simple idea: most travel content about Peru is either too vague to be useful, or too focused on adventure activities to be relevant for the majority of first-time visitors.

This site focuses on the questions that most first-time visitors actually have: Where should I stay? How do I get from A to B? How do I deal with altitude? What do I need to book in advance? Is Peru safe?

Who is this site for?

Travel Smart Peru is primarily for:

  • ·First-time visitors to Peru who want practical, specific guidance
  • ·Travelers who are not interested in multi-day hiking (Inca Trail, Salkantay, etc.)
  • ·People who are concerned about altitude and want to plan carefully
  • ·Independent travelers who want to plan their own trip without a tour operator
  • ·Travelers who want honest hotel and logistics recommendations

Our approach to content

We aim to write guides that are specific, honest, and useful — not generic travel-blog content that could apply to any destination. Where we make recommendations, we explain the reasoning. Where there is no clear best answer, we say so.

We do not publish fake reviews, unsupported claims, or content designed purely for affiliate revenue. Some pages contain affiliate links — these are disclosed clearly and we only include links that are relevant and useful for travelers.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Travel Smart Peru are affiliate links. If you book through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the site. We only include affiliate links for products and services that are relevant to the guide and useful for travelers. See our full affiliate disclosure for more details.
